Associate Trial Attorney

Position Summary:
Our small but dynamic insurance defense litigation firm in Houston, TX, seeks an Associate Trial Attorney. The ideal candidate will have experience in litigation (three years preferred), but all bar candidates with the motivation to learn and ability to handle a trial docket are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with attorneys in an office environment to ensure that case files are well organized and cases are trial-ready. This is not a remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Positive attitude, litigation prowess, and a genuine desire to try cases.

  • Self-motivated with the desire to handle all aspects of cases from intake through disposition.

  • Ability to handle daily court proceedings, motions practice, filings, and ongoing casework.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Excellent self-awareness and mastery of "soft skills."

  • Skilled at interpreting social cues from judges, opposing counsel, and clients.

  • Able to independently address any issues that arise during a case.

  • Coachable and self-reflective with a commitment to achieving the best results in a client-focused practice.

  • Ability to confidently yet humbly win over clients and juries in the litigation environment.

  • Exceptionally skilled at written and oral communication.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of litigation experience, preferably in civil defense

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software (e.g., Clio, Filevine, Meruscase or similar)

  • Familiarity with billing time

  • Strong understanding of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules

  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
